HPTC 2011 Rules & Regulations 12/06/2010
1.       General
a.       The Hyde Park Tennis Club will open officially on Friday, April 15, 2011 and close officially on Saturday, October 15, 2011.
b.      Weather permitting, the Club will open 7 days each week, from 9:00am until 9:00pm, or dark, whichever is earlier. If weather is questionable, call the Club’s telephone number at 513/871-1940. A recording will be available providing current information.
c.       The Board of Directors will govern the Club. Any decisions by the Board regarding court play will be incorporated into the existing Operating Rules and Regulations, posted on the Clubhouse Bulletin Board and the Club’s website (www.hydeparktennisclub.com) and printed in the Club Directory.
d.      During the season, any suggestions for improving Club Rules and regulations should be submitted in writing to the Club President, who will present them to the Board for consideration.
 
2.       Guest Policy
a.       Only members can invite guest to play. Any non-member may play as guest. Guest Fees apply.
b.      It is the responsibility of the member to register any guest he/she may have.
c.       Guest fees are due at the time of play. Members will be charged if guests do not pay. HPTC members are responsible for paying for or collecting the fees from their guests. If these fees are not paid in a timely manner, the member could lose his/her playing privileges and possibly even membership.
d.      The guest fee is $15.
e.      There are no guest fees for Junior members bringing one Junior guest weekdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
f.        The guest policy is in effect any time the courts are used including before the official open date and after the official close date, with exception for Board-approved Club functions.
 
3.       Court Regulations
a.       All players must wear proper tennis attire and tennis shoes. T-shirts with tennis logo are acceptable. A shirt must be worn at all times.
b.      All players must be considerate and respectful to other players and club property. Profanity, shouting, vulgar and destructive conduct will not be tolerated. Players exhibiting this conduct will be asked to leave. Continued demonstrations of this nature will be cause for loss of membership.
c.       All players must sign-in with their names, starting time, court number, and must register any guests before play.
d.      The “start-time” entered on the court sign-in sheet is the official start time and must reflect the actual time players walk onto the court. If players do not enter a start time on the court sign-in sheet, the start time defaults to 9:00am.
e.      Courts cannot be reserved in advance except for Board-approved functions, which have priority over individual play.
f.        If no courts are available, players will be wait-listed on a first-come, first-served basis.
g.       Players who are still occupying a court must wait until they have finished their time period before they can sign-up for another court.
h.      There is a one-hour-and-fifteen-minute time limit on all courts at all times for both singles and doubles. Play can continue after the time limit has expired if no one is on the waiting list.
i.         If, after one-hour-and-fifteen-minutes of play, a group waiting to play, the court should be relinquished immediately upon completion of the point being played.
j.        Using more than three balls on any court is permitted only when there are no other players on the same tier of courts, or with special permission from the Club Manager.
k.       Club property is a “No Smoking” zone.
l.         A car cannot remain in either the upper or lower parking lots if the owner has left the club premises.
m.    No attended children under the age of six are permitted on Club premises.
n.      Inactive members are not eligible to play, except to play, except with permission of the Board.
 
4.       Membership
a.       The following six categories of membership are available in 2011 for the 26-week season, beginning April 15, 2011 and ending October 15, 2011.  No fees are charged for playing.

                                                            iii.      Intermediate Single (ages 21-35)............$315

                                                             v.      Junior Membership (under 21)………......$135

b.      In addition, for 2011, special introductory first-year memberships are available for those who have never been a member of the Club.  
                                                               i.      Introductory Single………………………… $360
                                                             ii.      Introductory Family……………………….…$580
c.       The Board must approve Inactive membership status. Inactive status may be awarded due to distance (more than 50 miles from Cincinnati), illness or injury. There is a $50 fee (including tax) for Inactive membership.
d.      Voting in HPTC Board of Directors elections: each Board of Directors elections:
                                                               i.       each Single membership has one vote. 
                                                             ii.      each Family membership has two votes. 
                                                            iii.      Junior and Inactive members may not vote.
e.      An initiation fee is waived for the 2011 season. 
f.        Members joining after their membership has lapsed must pay a second initiation fee, if applicable.
g.       When a member’s child no longer qualifies as a child under Family membership, he or she may apply for a single membership and pay dues for that type of membership.
h.      Membership dues are not refundable.
i.         New members (i.e., never having been a member before) who join after July 15, can have their membership dues prorated. See the Club Manager for the prorated dues schedule. Previously paid guest fees will not be used to offset a portion of the membership dues.
