Men's Tennis Ladder Rules
Minimize

The Men’s Tennis Ladder will start on Sunday, May 1, and end on Sept 2.  Sign-up at the Club, sign-up HERE in the General Messages box, or simply contact Geoff Strauss.

Anyone can join at any point during the summer.

Rules:

(1)   Expect to play at least once every 3-weeks to remain active on the ladder.  If a player does not play during a 3-week cycle, they become inactive and re-ranked below all other active players.  If you cannot play within a particular cycle, contact Geoff Strauss to put a hold on your ranking so this does not occur.

(2)   Players signing up by May 1 can challenge any other player on the list until May 29.  After May 29, players only can challenge up to 3 spots higher on the list.  Players who sign-up later in the season will start with the lowest ranking, but can challenge anyone on the list for the first three weeks they play.

(3)  Players should report match results immediately after finishing their matches.  There will be a sheet posted on the bulletin board for this purpose.  Players need to report who won, time & date of match.

(4)  Players should agree on the format of match before starting play (e.g., best of three sets, best of three but with the third set played as a tie-breaker, one set, no-ad scoring, first to eight, etc.).  Players can choose any format they wish as long as both players agree.

(5)   If a match is interrupted because of rain or court time limits, players should pick up match where they left off and use same format, unless they both agree to start over or change format.

(6)   Both players should bring a can of balls to the match.  Players should spin to see which can gets opened.  Winner of match takes home unopened can.

(7)   Ladder will be re-ranked at beginning of each new 3-week cycle, and each cycle will run from a Saturday to a Friday evening.  If higher ranked player wins match against lower ranked player, rankings will not be affected.  Lower ranked player who wins will take the rank of higher ranked player, who will be moved down one place.

(8)   Rankings will be adjusted in order of play.  For example, if player A beats player B, but then player B beats a higher ranked player the following day, then player B will be ranked above player A even though A beat B earlier in week.

Questions or suggestions should be directed to Geoff Strauss.
